El Cid Campeador once again converts the Burgos town of Huerta de Rey in a medieval setting with the V edition of the Cidianas Conference, which is celebrated on July 27.
According to the Song of Mine Cid, this illustrious fighter he would have passed through this town on the way to his exile, which has made Huerta de Rey embrace the initiative to commemorate one of the most significant and remembered Spanish historical figures for a few years. After the success of previous editions, this year Huerta de Rey is preparing again to offer a exciting journey to the 11th century with one of the most picturesque towns in the region as a backdrop.
This party includes the representation of "The legend of the Cid", a play that tells the passage of the Cid and his three captains through the town and that makes a complete review through the adventures, life and conquests of the Castilian hero.
In this edition, as a novelty, the entire town and its visitors will meet to enjoy an authentically medieval popular meal, enlivened by the Wyrdamur Medieval Folk folk group. In 2019, there has also been a commitment to greater street entertainment and the expansion of the Cidiano market.
In addition, once again, the town will host the Medieval Tapas Tournament from the local restaurants.

The cidiano market
This year, the Cidiano market will be larger and will have merchants who will exhibit and sell artisan products from the area and other denominations of origin. The participants themselves will have the opportunity to walk with the Cid through those streets before the performance. More than 80 people have participated in this initiative that aims to give life to one of the most important legends in our history and literature, including the many actors and volunteers who collaborate in ornamental or lighting tasks.
